Top Five Currently Running Manga You Should be Reading!
These days with so many different series running in all sorts of different manga magazines it can be hard to know what series are really worth keeping up with. Now nobody needs me to tell you that keeping up with the Shouneun Jump juggernauts like One Piece or Jujutsu Kaisen will be worth your time. Today I’m going to take you through a list of lesser-known series that nonetheless are still worth catching up on.
Chainsaw Man
Hot off the success of the anime’s killer first season there’s never been a better time to dive into the Chainsaw Man manga. For those who don’t know Chainsaw Man tells the story of a down-on-his-luck teenager as he harnesses his unique powers to help protect the world from the devil threat. It’s a unique and strange series that will always keep you guessing what’s going to happen next while delivering payoff like you’ve never seen before. Truly Chainsaw Man is a modern masterpiece. You’d be doing yourself a disservice if you waited until the next season came out for more Chainsaw Man.

Kingdom
And now for something totally different, Kingdom tells the story of a young warrior named Shin attempting to make a name for himself as a soldier in a fictionalized version of China’s Warring States period. Kingdom is first and foremost an action manga, beautiful fluid art supported by a story that makes it so you can’t help but get in invested in the characters' goals. But behind all the war and action the author depicts the real struggles nations face between what’s possible and what’s right, how even a good person can make bad choices for the right reason. What exactly paves the path to a brighter future?

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End
Frieran: Beyond Journey’s End by Kanehito Yamada tells the story of an ancient elven mage retracing her steps after her former adventuring party has succumbed to old age. It’s a story about our experiences, it’s a touching story about how people’s lives really affect each other. Along with all that we get to explore a beautiful world of whimsy and magic. For anyone interested in classic fantasy this will certainly be the series to scratch that itch this year.

Drifting Dragons
This is one that I’ve talked about here before but Drifting Dragons is the story of the crew of the Quin Zaza, Drakers who hunt down majestic dragons to both protect the world and harvest the beasts for all their valuable resources. It’s a classic tale about the struggle between man and nature, how much innovation will be too much for the world to handle? How badly do we damage the world while trying to survive? And how much does any of that matter to the people who are simply working to make a living? It’s a great story that poses lots of interesting questions and boasts absolutely stunning art to boot.

Dandadan
Momo Awase and Okarun are high school students interested in proving whether the supernatural is real or not. Momo believes in ghosts and Okarun believes in aliens; unfortunately for them, they’re both right thus begins the story of Dandadan. This is a story of monsters and the battles fought to keep them from shattering the normal world. When these children step up they enter a world they could’ve never imagined. In this series, the author treats us to incredible monster designs that show off the detail of his incredible art to bring these creatures to horrible life. A beautiful and dramatic series well worth the time!
