There has never been a better time to start One Piece

Netflix had just released their adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s seminal work One Piece and surprisingly it lives up to all the hype of the world's best-selling manga. So the question is now that you’ve watched the first season of the live-action show, what should you do? The answer is obvious, it’s time for you to start your One Piece journey. Either watching the anime or reading the manga both offer a wonderful experience that will allow you to see more of this wonderfully silly world.

For people looking to keep watching TV, the anime is the perfect place to pick up. Now it should be said that live-action changes things around a bit to try and keep things concise for a seasonal TV schedule and as such I would suggest starting from episode one rather than starting where the live-action left off.

That said in my personal opinion the best way to experience this story is really to read the original manga, Eiichiro Oda’s insane skill as both artist and author are on constant display as he introduces you to this magical world. Just based on the fact that it is the story's original form would make it worth checking out but also a lot of Oda’s more subtle details and worldbuilding get a little lost in adaptation. Only he knows what will end up being important to the story so the anime and live-action have occasionally cut things that ended up mattering further down the line. Along with that, only the manga gets you the cover stories telling the adventures everyone else is on once Luffy’s left their part of the world. Anime only’s are gonna be real confused when Enel rocks up with his moon army is all I’m saying.

With all that in mind, there has never been a better time than now to continue your journey with this wonderful series. I know it’s a lot but I guarantee it’ll be time well spent
