Pathfinder Podcasts Showcase

In today's Actual Play market DND tends to get all the airtime but for people looking for a fun alternative if you’re looking to avoid Wizards of the Coast might I suggest Paizo’s DND-alike Pathfinder and its wonderful podcasts. Interestingly compared to the DND market many Pathfinder podcasts choose to run Paizo-made Adventure Paths rather than their own homebrew. What this means is we get to see all sorts of stories across Paizo’s world of Golarion. Today I’m going to talk about two of the biggest, Find the Path Podcast and The Glass Cannon Podcast.

Find the Path Podcast is a group of nerds from Texas who are currently running three Pathfinder APs with another that they’ve completed. Initially, their flagship show that began the podcast was Mummies Mask, a story based in Golarion’s version of Egypt where the party must work to stop a recently risen Pharaoh from returning to the power he once held. It’s a fun adventure story and a great introduction to the cast. Their second podcast runs alongside Mummies Mask biweekly is Hell’s Rebel. Hell’s Rebel’s tells the story of a group of citizens of the city of Kintargo as they fight back against the infernal leaders of the nations of Chilleax, It is a much more adult and harrowing show than Mummies Mask but because of that, it’s able to deliver a lot more powerfully emotional moments. After the conclusion of Mummies Mask earlier this year they began the War for the Crown Adventure Path which tells the story of the succession crisis in France alike Taldor.

Find the Path tells amazing stories but the real draw for people into Pathfinder is that they are masters of the rules. For such a complicated game they know exactly what needs to be done at any given moment to keep the story moving.

Now I’m going to move on to our next podcast, one of the most renowned shows in the space, The Glass Cannon Podcast. This podcast consists of four close friends from New York who have gotten back together to dive back into rpgs with Pathfinder’s Giantslayer Adventure Path. Though in recent months the network has moved beyond just Pathfinder with their shows this week will mark their return of long-term Pathfinder show with the debut of Gatewalkers.

The original form of the main show followed them as they played through the Giantslayer Adventure Path. This adventure follows four adventurers from the small town of Trunau as they set out to defend their home from the oncoming giant threat. Glass Cannon can be a little lighthearted and jokey compared to some other podcasts but when it decides to get serious boy does it get serious. There’s no doubt in my mind that it’s earned its reputation as the premier Pathfinder podcast.
