Oxventure

Oxventure was initially just a DND Actual Play created by the video game YouTube channel OutsideXbox. Since then they have expanded to there own channel while also adding shows using both Blades in the Dark and Deadlands Reloaded systems.

Initially when the series began the only member of the cast who had ever played a ttrpg was the DM Johnny which means that it makes a great entry point for new players because the players on the show are also learning. In practice what this means is that a new player will be able to learn the system as said system is explained for the players, along with that Oxventure DND is specifically a good place for new DND players because they focus on telling a good story over the number crunching of other DND shows.

While DND is certainly the most popular version of Oxventure Blades in the Dark and Deadlands both offer great introductions to their systems. For those who don’t know Blades in the Dark is a system based around commiting heists in the gothic Victorian city of Doskvol. In this series you see the crew meeting each other and beginning there criminal empire but the real key to this series is having players pair off, a feature that Deadlands would continue, in order to give more characters the chance in the spotlight.

And finally we get to the currently ongoing, possibly finished by the time this is out, weird west series known as Deadlands Reloaded. Deadlands is set in the Wild West of the Americas with the only difference being that in this world monsters and creature abound. In this series we follow a group of Wildcards as they are hired by a wealthy widower to hunt down a gang of bandits who wronged her and take them out, a world full of wild and harrowing adventures abound.

No matter which series you end up checking Oxventure is one of the most fun actual play shows on the market and you definitely need to be watching!
